Lovely quiet well run site, the staff are very friendly. They put on a bbq “get to know your neighbour” for those that were interested, they provided the food and had a price list, it was enjoyable and friendly. They try to put something on every now and then.
Lovely clean facilities, and clean and tidy site.
It got a little busier at the weekend we were there.
We preferred being on a grass pitch with electric, we felt more in the open! There are hard standings that are nearer to the showers etc.
A small shop on site with a few essentials like milk/sausages/canned foods etc.. enough to get by..
3 pubs in walking distance.
Lydford gorge nearby
Granite way..
A little farm shop on A386 as you turn into lydford, they were really friendly people running it, worth a visit, they sold a really nice locally raspberry sorbet (I normally don’t like sorbet),I would have it again

We booked in for one night at Lydford caravan and camping site, we quickly decided that we needed to stay longer because it was such an interesting area to explore. The staff were very helpful and slotted us in for another night . We arrived around 3 o’clock and got straight round to visiting Lydford Gorge which is a few minutes walk away we did the devils caldron first (it was stunning) ) . We got back around tea time and then needed to eat , we asked the staff at Lydford For directions to the Fox and Hounds pub (as they do the best chips ever ) it was a long walk and they kindly offered to give us a lift and we greatly accepted . We walked the rest of the gorge the next day. We had a fantastic stay at the camp site and the staff were fantastic , clean showers lovely site and lovely people We can’t wait to go back . ( I left a shirt there the staff found it and posted it back to us ). Thank you .

Fantastic service with a smile from the staff during our stay this week made it a trip to remember!
They stopped work immediately to help us and supplied an extension cable when our’s was too short, opened the shop to sell us ice cream after a long hot walk and on another occasion to provide us with a cream tea!
On Saturday evening they have a BBQ, supplying and cooking all the food for the guests.
Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.
We look forward to returning soon.

Louise

We spent a lovely evening here on our way home to Bude; a very pretty site in a great location for walks and pub. Wish we could have stayed longer and glad it’s almost on our doorstep as we get to go again…and again! Hosts were fabulous, very welcoming! Thank you for a super stay.

We had an unexpected free night whilst travelling home and thought we would revisit an old haunt so rang on the off chance they had a pitch
We received a very friendly affirmative and booked
Although we arrived early we were made very welcome and given a choice of pitches
The site and facilities were faultless and exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained we now remember why it was a regular destination and can’t wait to come back, we certainly won’t be leaving it so long this time
Thank you for a wonderful experience

We stayed here with a group of 8 friends and one of our group had a bad knee and wasn’t able to walk to the pub for a Birthday Celebration meal. We couldn’t find a taxi company in the locality but Helen and Allan the wardens offered to take her and pick her up again. What kindness, we really appreciated the gesture.
This is a beautiful setting and quaint little village with lots around to do and see. We are off on a cycle ride today along a good trail that goes into Okehampton. We will be back here again soon for sure.

Quiet views of Dartmoor

We have just spent six nights on this site, which is well laid out and cared for. We were in the lower ‘Tavy Field’, the upper end of which has lovely views across to the western edge of Dartmoor. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful. There is a dog walk around the upper grass field, which also has great views. Although the weather was not too kind during our visit, there are plenty of visits and walks available in the local area. In particular, the ‘Granite Trail’ along the old LSWR route from Okehampton to Plymouth is now tarmac from Lydford to Okehampton and thus provides a lovely walking route when other footpaths are impassable. Tavistock is an interesting old market town, which also has well maintained paths beside the River Tavy together with a towpath walk along the old canal, which originally connected the town to the River Tamar at Morwellham Quay. A lovely site and area to which we hope and expect to return. Paul and Maggie (plus Stella the dog)

Another great time

Just returned from another stay at this great site. As always the site was clean and well managed. Cant wait to go again.

Stayed here for one night, can’t fault the place staff friendly and very helpful, nice personal service, very peaceful campsite nice to hear the birds singing at dawn. Lovely views and very well kept pitches. Plenty of space between vans allowing privacy. Toilets, showers and dish washing area kept very clean and fresh smelling. Surrounding area has lots to offer including great walks and bike rides.

Great site , very clean and tidy . All facilities were fantastic, are very helpful and pleasant owner and staff. Location on the edge of Dartmoor goes without saying. 10 out of 10.

Peaceful and relaxing site with plenty of activities to do close by. Clean toilets and showers. Warm welcome on arrival and friendly throughout our stay. Definitely coming back.

Beautifully peaceful site, well positioned on the edge of Lydford Village. Within walking distance of Lydford Gorge approx 1 mile. Sit well layed out with both grass and hard standing, toilet block a little old and tired. Very friendly staff.

Our first time on this site showers are spotless and smell so clean! ( so happy camper here!)
Staff very friendly good size pitches will be the first of many visits

Stayed in a tent which is slightly up a hill from the caravans and you get a stunning view of some of the hills in Dartmoor. Staff were welcoming and was a clean campsite. Accessibility to walks and other sights was good as we walked from the campsite to Great Links Tor via Brat Tor which I would recommend for a walker who wants a slightly longer day walk. Only stayed for a few nights but wish it could have been longer
