Arrival and access information

Roads of granite chippings service all parts of the site and a 5mph speed restrictions are in place. The approach to the site must be by following the described route that can be found on the how to find us page.

Between 7:30 am and 10 pm the site is accessed via a security gate. Provision is made for pedestrian and wheelchair access at all times.

Between 10 pm and 7:30 am vehicle movement is prohibited on site, the main gate is locked and will only be opened in an emergency.

Overnight car parking is provided in the visitor’s parking area. New arrivals should time their arrival between the hours of 1 pm and 8 pm during May to September inclusive and up to 6 pm during the rest of the season.

For security, the site barrier is locked at 10 pm and unlocked at 7:30 am.

There is parking available outside and pedestrian access during these hours. The barrier will only be unlocked in case of emergency.

Please note that we do not have an early/late arrivals area.

Reception and shop

Reception is generally open between 9 am and 5 pm. If Reception is closed “staff on duty” doorbells are provided.

Our shop is open during reception hours. We sell maps, toilet chemicals, rock pegs and camping sundries. Milk, bread, eggs, bacon, cakes, drinks, canned and dry groceries, ice cream, sweets and other locally sourced produce. We are also licensed to sell beers, wines and spirits for consumption off the premises.

Facilities 

Toilets and facilities

All facilities are in one building close to the site entrance but are easily accessed from all areas of the site. All doors are accessed by gentle ramps with handrails.

The heated separated ladies and gents facilities include push button shower cubicles,  private wash cubicles (ladies cubicles include hairdryer), toilets, urinals, and further wash hand basins with soap dispensers. There are also electric hand dryers and shaver points.

A heated dedicated 2400mm x 2400mm Disabled facility/wet room is accessed via an 800mm door. Equipment includes a variable temperature and adjustable height push button shower with grab handles and ample room for a wheelchair, a high level toilet pan with grab rails; wash hand basin with soap dispenser, hand drying towels, and sanitary disposal.

Baby changing facilities are available in the disabled facility/wet room. 

The key for our disabled room is available to those who need it for the duration of their stay on payment of a refundable £5 deposit. 

The cleaning closing time is 11 am to 12.30 pm. The disabled room (toilet and hand washing only) is open during these hours.

Opposite the facilities block is a motorhome service area with fresh water, and drive over grey and black water drains. A further covered elsan toilet disposal point can be accessed by a path to the rear of the building.

Electric wheelchair and leisure batteries can be charged on site. There is a charge of £2.50 for this service.

Laundry and dishwashing facilities

Commercial quality laundry equipment is available for a charge. Detergent is available from reception. There are hand washing sinks and outdoor drying lines. A National Park regulation does not allow washing lines around the park or units.

The laundry room contains a coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer, and two “butler” type hand washing sinks. The dishwashing room has 3 sinks with double drainers. There is also a tourist information display in this room.

Wastewater, waste and recycling

There are a number of freshwater points and grey water drains throughout the site. There is also a dedicated Motorhome service bay with fresh water and drive over grey water drain. Portable Elsan disposal is at the rear of the facilities building, we strongly promote the use of green or organic fluids.

Disposal points can be found throughout the site. We currently re-cycle plastics, clean glass, cans, paper and cardboard.

Local Information

For your convenience, tourist and local information can be found in the wahing up area, however, we will be pleased to help with any information you require. Please ask in reception if needed.

The nearest bus stop is 100 metres from the site offering a regular and efficient service to Okehampton, Tavistock & beyond. Taxis come from a distance.

Telephone numbers for doctors, hospitals and vets etc can be found in reception. Most television, satellite and free-view receptions are generally good.
