Seventh visit to Lydford.  We have been here many times now, and always find our stay an enjoyable one (even during inclement weather). The site is well maintained with friendly wardens. Some visitors seem to be of the “walk past you with head down brigade”, but then that’s their problem. Most others are very sociable indeed! Visiting the Gorge is a must if you are able to, and walking on Dartmoor doesn’t need to be described here. The Castle Inn allows dogs into the bar area, but not children (even well behaved ones) – although there is a back room and beer garden that allows these small people!!!! We will be back again soon.

Very clean and quiet.  Exceptionally clean site and facilities. Very helpful caretakers, providing a treasure hunt round the three fields which was fun to do with the grandchildren. Great for walking , in the middle of the moors, near lydford gorge falls (expensive if not a National Trust member)

Wonderful site.  We always have a good time when on a Caravan Club site, this was our first stay at an affiliated site, so we were slightly apprehensive.  Would the site live up to CC standards? What would the quality of amenities be like? Would the wardens be as good as a CC Site?

Well we were so satisfied with the excellent service from Hazel, Ian and all the team at Lydford Caravan and Camping site – the site is excellent, any apprehension we had was eroded when Hazel cheerily met us at the gate by our name.

We have just got home from a wonderful week at this site.  All the staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them – best wardens ever.  The price to stay here is reasonable. The onsite shop is well stocked with a lot of local produce at very reasonable prices.  The site is very well presented and the upkeep is to a very high standard.  The shower block is exceptionally clean with good pressure hot water.  “Frankies Food van” is often onsite at the weekend where good food is sold with a friendly smile (burgers, bacon rolls, jacket potatoes etc).   All the staff at Lydford are fantastic and the site is very well maintained

Highly recommend this site and will re-visit as soon as we can.

Great site on Dartmoor.  A very friendly, clean, well laid out and very well run site. Excellent welcome and they work with you to find you a suitable pitch. Very clean toilet/shower block. Easy to access laundry, chemical waste and water points. Also has on site shop and gas.
Buses run close by, walks to the moors also nearby. Lydford gorge is a mile away and worth a visit. Lydford is a nice little village with a good pub and lots of history.

Best site ever visited !!   My husband and I have just returned home after spending 16 nights at this superb campsite. We have never stayed on such a friendly site ever. It’s a very pretty site and it is kept pristine at all times. The shower block was immaculate.
But most of all it was the friendliness that stood out, all of the staff were extremely helpful and kind, and couldn’t do enough for you.
I think whilst we were there, we must have only opened the gate ourselves about twice, as other times when we drove up someone would appear instantly to do the gate in any weather too. And when we left to come home, talk about a Guard of Honour, all 6 staff waved us off, which has never happened before.
Also Lydford is ideally situated for exploring Devon East & West, and having Tavistock so near too for any supplies you may need, as well as a Farm shop nearby. The local pub “The Castle Inn”  served exceptionally good meals too.
So if you decide to explore Devon near to Dartmoor ‘Lydford Campsite’ is the place to stay.
