Excellent site with terrific wardens. We stayed here whilst visiting our son and his family in Plymouth. The site is wonderfully quiet, with fabulous views over Dartmoor. Whilst the toilet block is slightly dated it is kept very clean and the wardens work hard improving the facilities. The site is immaculately kept and the wardens are lovely and very sociable. This was our first AS site and we were suitably impressed. Thank you wardens for such an enjoyable stay.

Great Site.  Just stayed at this fantastic little AS site for 8 days and there is still more things to do when we go back for another visit, the site itself is kept spotless by the very hardworking wardens who are the friendliest and most helpful wardens we have come across in our 20+ years of camping, can’t wait to go back.

Our 4th stay and won’t be our last! Fab site Fab wardens  An absolute gem of a site, quiet, beautifully maintained, the most helpful, attentive wardens we have met (they actually treat you like intelligent human beings! As unlike some other sites on check in there are no demonstrations of pitching with miniature cars, caravans, dictating of reversing, blah blah!) All wardens are only too pleased to advise pitches with morning or evening sun, close to facilities or with a lovely view … just friendly, helpful, kind advice and exceptional gate opening skills thrown in too!  The local pub “The Castle” serves fabulous food suggest you book ahead if you want to take your dogs as there are 2 tables in “the snugg” where there is no fear of them being trodden on unlike the busy bar. Take a rug and they can sit up beside you on the long benches!! This lovely site, wherever you are pitched, is perfectly positioned to explore Northern Dartmoor and is a must if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the madness of everyday life, don’t hesitate to book as you won’t be disappointed.

Maiden voyage! This was our very first trip ever in our Motorhome so we decided to pick a site that wasn’t too far from home. We could not have done better had we tried. The facilities were immaculate and plentiful. The wardens were friendly and helpful, which since it was a trial run was good to know there was someone on hand if we had a problem. The site is well located for exploring Dartmoor with the Granite Way cycle trail very close by. A short walk takes you into Lydford village and we can recommend The Castle for a good pub meal. There is a ‘butty’ van on site on week day mornings which does take away breakfasts which was a definite tick in the box. I would not particularly recommend this site if you have children who like lots of entertainment, there is no play area and no swimming pool if that is what you are looking for. There is plenty of walking, fresh air and nature and the whole of Dartmoor to explore. There are a number of National Trust properties within easy reach which always have something for the children to do. All in all a very good couple of days and when we have bought ourselves some bikes we will be returning to tackle the cycle trail. Thank you Shirley & Co for a very successful maiden voyage.
