Having stayed at >9 sites this year, Lydford is at last what we’ve been looking for. To mention but a few of the many attributes, the walks were beautiful, both long and hilly if that’s what you want, or shorter and flat, after you’ve staggered to the top of one of the many surrounding tors, all visible from the site. Even the dog walk(s) were the best we’ve experienced. Facilities were just what you need and kept clean and tidy. Even the the pretty flower beds and planters were kept up together at all times. Oh, and I must mention the staff as these guys and girls could not do enough to make your stay memorable. In fact their style infected all who stayed making them truly “happy campers”. Finally, we enjoyed our stay so much, we are back there for another week shortly. Thank you, Ian and Hazel, and all your team, from Glasshopper and co, for a lovely week – see you soon.

We went to this site in the school holidays and it was lovely and peaceful. The views of Dartmoor are incredible and the dog walk around the upper field is lovely. The wardens are among the most friendly and cheerful I have encountered.

We have been to this site twice this year, adding up to around 4.5 weeks in total. The best thing I can say is that it was not long enough! We still have things to do, places to visit and walks to complete. We have been to sites that are lovely, we have been to sites that have excellent management and team. This is one of the few sites that have both!

Came here to see Devon away from coast. It is a lovely area with good walks and pubs. The site facilities are clean and comfortable. We are doggy people and we can recommend this area for dog friendliness. the local pub –the Castle Inn has good food and beer.

Just returned home from a short visit to this site, one of many, under new management now and they are a credit to the club. There are improvements to the shower block which are welcome and generally the site is well kept and spotless. If you are a walker or just love a bit of peace and quiet, this is the spot for you, there are great walks from the site up onto the moor, or along byways and the granite way cycle/walking path along the old railway. We have noticed over the years that this is one of the friendliest sites we have visited, both staff and campers alike. We will definitely be back, check out the low season offers…..
